Welcome to Garbage Valley

Yearly and costly clean ups along the Chilkat River are not solving the garbage problem. People just come back and dump again and again. New ideas need to be developed to fight this problem. Ideas like Debra Schnabel’s area trash pick-up service and more police enforcement using trail-cams etc. are a start. Got any ideas? Let us know.IMG_1305

  1. Have free transfers sites for garbage and Bill the service area where each collection site is built. Check out Kodiak, Alaska system.

  2. Remote garbage transfer sites while convenient, are smelly and a huge bear attractant in the neighborhood where they are located. As well as being “bear proof” they need be a deterrent to hungry bears. It took 20 years for CWS to build an electric fence around the dump and bears still show up there.
