Greens Creek Mine a Terrible Polluter

Raised up as a great example of how mines can be safe, in Alaska, Greens Creek Mine has had hundreds of mining violations. Now, terribly, we know that the mine has greatly polluted Hawk Inlet. Local native communities are distraught over the possibility of a complete loss of subsistence in their ocean area.

In the battle against these terrible mines many people are concerned about “restricting” others. The truth is it’s the other way around. These mines destroy and ruin a way of life that has gone on for thousands of years. Nothing is more “Restrictive” then destroying people’s food sources. Tourism, Commercial Fishing, Sub- fishing, and our native communities are all at risk.

Study on Hawk inlet below.
